Collaboration is a board game played to simulate the interdependency between organisational capability, customer satisfaction and financial results. It brings together people from different teams or functions to learn how their individual behaviour influences decisions in each of these critical areas, and how these decisions then influence the wider success of their organisation. In playing the game, participants experience how success is either reinforced or undermined by the way in which they communicate, make decisions and solve problems. They learn that in order to be successful in the game, they must view the business from each other’s perspective, understand the interdependencies, communicate across functions, collectively resolve issues and make “joined up” decisions. A facilitated dialogue at the end of the game draws parallels for the real world and commits participants to collaborate more extensively around specific issues in the work place.
